Wolf Moon is primarily marketed as Jason Aldean’s brand of whiskey, but they also describe it as a collaboration with Old Camp and FGL. The bottle is considerably nicer than Old Camp and costs a seven dollars more. So obviously, this is supposed to be their “reserve” or premium offering.
Along with all the branding lingo on the bottle, we have “Aged in American White Oak Barrels.” Cool! Honestly, if it tastes good… you could make it in a used oil drum for all I care. So what about the taste? Is Wolf Moon actually any good? Oh yeah! Would I recommend it? Absolutely!
If you like Marker’s Mark, you would probably enjoy this whiskey.
I was pretty surprised with how good Wolf Moon tasted! It is super smooth with not a lot of bite or aftertaste. It’s not overly sweet either. But it does have enough flavor to give a bit of character. If you like Marker’s Mark, you would probably enjoy this whiskey. I’ll have to review the original Old Camp to compare to their offering. But at $27 a bottle, Wolf Moon is a no brainer. It tastes like a whiskey you would spend 10-20 bucks more on. I will definitely pick up another bottle soon as it’s a really good bang for your buck.
I would recommend drinking Wolf Moon on the rocks or neat. It would probably make a good old fashioned or Manhattan. I personally would not mix it with Coke, nor did I didn’t try it for this review. It might taste fine, but I feel this whiskey is a little to premium to mix with soda.
Jason Aldean, Old Camp and the FGL guys did a great job with this one! I would recommend Wolf Moon as a drinking choice even if you don’t listen to Jason Aldean or Florida Georgia Line. This whiskey did not disappoint and for $27 it is an excellent choice for the price. Because of that, I’m going to give this a 4.4 out of 5 stars.
