REVIEW: Metallica’s “Blackened” Whiskey

Overall this whiskey passes the test. It tastes good, is semi-smooth (just the right kick) and has a decent aftertaste.

Review: Again, keep in mind this is coming from a novice critic (but experienced drinker’s) perspective. We are not going to bore you with paragraphs describing “notes of apricot” or “caramel tones” (both of which this whiskey has BTW). Overall this whiskey passes the test. It tastes good, is semi-smooth (just the right kick) and has a decent aftertaste. It runs about $55-$60 bottle so it’s not party whiskey but certainly in the right range to be enjoyed at any small gathering or tailgating before the show. The fact that metal music is blasted at the casks certainly adds headbanger cred. While Enter Night (Metallica’s beer) is a “Meh” (3), this whiskey is a solid 4+ (I’d drink it straight any time). No judgements on anyone’s preference for rocks or neat. It does fall a little short of the taste and smoothness of Angel’s Envy and it is also hard to find here in Georgia. It ships to 32 states, but not GA, so you may have to go to a larger package store to find it. It’s worth the trip.

Cut to the Chaser: No chaser needed; this 90-proof whiskey is very good. A little pricey for the average Southern Rocker but great if you have the budget. It’s roughly the same price as Angel’s Envy so I cannot ding it on price. Try it out! Free shipping if you buy 2 or more from the website (and you don’t live in GA).
